Our condolences to the Downing family and the Mobile Fire and Rescue
Department of Alabama. Captain Samuel Downing, 45, a 22 year veteran
of the Mobile Fire and Rescue Department, died Saturday June 30, 2007.
Samuel responded to several runs during his 24 hour shift. After
returning home from completeing his tour he suffered an apparent heart
attack and passed away.
Samuel was assigned as a shift supervisor for Engine Company 15 and the
Hazardous Material Response Team at Gus Rehm Fire Station.
Our brother Samuel leaves behind his wife Lisa, and his three children.
A visitation for Samuel will be held on Tuesday July 3, 2007 6-8PM
at Radney Funeral Home in Mobile. A funeral service will be held for
Samuel on Wednesday July 4, 2007 11AM at Wilmer United Methodist Church
in Wilmer followed by internment at the church cemetery. A memorial
