EMT Ronald Holmes, 43, an 18 year veteran of the North
Platte Fire Department died Wednesday August 6, 2003.
Ronald was killed when the ambulance he was driving was
struck in the rear by a tractor trailer, pushing their
ambulance into the rear of another tractor trailer. The
accident occurred in a construction zone on I-80 while Ronald
and another firefighter were transporting a patient form North
Platte to Lincoln. The other firefighter and the patient were
injured in the accident and were transported by Life Flight
to Lincoln.
Ronald joined the North Platte Fire Department in 1985 and
had attended several hazardous material courses during his
career. He was in the process of developing a hazardous
materials team. He also served his country in the United
States Navy from 1979 until 1983.
Our brother Ronald leaves behind his wife, Patty, and his
daughters, Chelsea and Kim. A visitation for Ronald will be
held Saturday August 9, 2003 noon-9PM and Sunday August
10, 2003 7-9PM at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home in North
Platte. A funeral service for Ronald will be held Monday
August 11, 2003 11AM at First United Methodist Church in
North Platte.
