Our condolences to the Brooks family and the West Hartford Fire Department of Connecticut. FireFighter and President of West Hartford Fire Department Local 1241, Patrick Brooks, 38, a 10 year veteran of the West Hartford Fire Department died Tuesday November 12, 2002. Patrick was on duty at the Berkshire Road Station on Engine 5 when he mentioned he wasn't feeling well and went to lie down. His brother firefighters were unable to revive him and he was transported to Hartford Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

     Patrick was Firefighter of the Year in 1995 and was awarded its bronze star twice for meritorious service including reviving a heart attack victim at a convalescent home 2 years ago. He also was involved in a collection for New York City Firefighters after 9-11 that generated $57,500 in donations. Patrick represented his brothers as President of Local 1241 for the past 6 years with pride.

     Our brother Patrick leaves behind his wife Rita and three sons Patrick (14), Anthony (11), and Christopher (8). A wake will be held for Patrick on Friday November 15, 2002 3-5PM and 6-9PM at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave in Windsor. A memorial funeral will be held on Saturday November 16, 2002 11AM at St. Gertrude's Church, 550 Matianuck Ave in Windsor. Internment at Mount Saint Benedict's Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Road in Bloomfield.

     The brothers and sisters of West Hartford Local 1241 have designed stickers to honor the memory of Patrick. The external car window stickers are $7.00 each and the helmet stickers are $5.00 each. All proceeds will go to the Brooks family.
