Our condolences to the Penovich family and the Saratoga Springs
Fire Department of Utah. Fire Chief Michael Penovich, 38, a veteran
with the Saratoga Springs and Cedar Fort Fire Departments, died
Thursday July 5, 2007. Michael was traveling in a department pickup
truck from a meeting in Heber City when his vehicle veered off of
an 80 foot embankment into the Deer Creek Reservoir. The truck was
found in 50 feet of water.
Mike was a volunteer firefighter with the Cedar Fort Fire Department
for four years before serving as the town's fire chief for six years.
In April of 2006 he became the Saratoga Springs Fire Chief. He was
also a fire academy instructor at Scottsdale Community College.
Our brother Mike leaves behind his wife Shelly, his son Colton, and
his daughter Chyann. A viewing will be held for Michael on Thursday
July 12, 2007 6-8PM and also Friday July 13, 2007 9-11AM at Saratoga
Springs LDS Stake Center. A funeral service for Mike will be held on
Friday July 13, 2007 12PM at American Fork LDS Tabernacle followed by
internment at Lehi Pioneer Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers,
