Our condolences to the Crotty family, the Lawrence Park Township
Fire Department, and the Erie Fire Department of Pennsylvania. Deputy
Chief Michael Crotty, 24, a 6 year volunteer of the Lawrence Township
Fire Department and Probationary FireFighter for the Erie Fire Department,
died Tuesday April 8, 2008. Michael was commanding a fire scene at
Port Erie Plastics in Harborcreek Township, when a ladder pipe
malfunctioned and became seperated from the aerial ladder, striking
Michael in the back of the head. He was transported to Hamot Medical
Center where he died shortly after.

Michael was a fifth generation firefighter and the ninth member of his
family to serve the Lawrence Township Fire Department. He served as
a paramedic for 3 years at Elmendorf Air Base near Anchorage, Alaska and
volunteered at a nearby fire department. He was also on the hiring list
for the FDNY.

Our brother Michael leaves behind his parents David & Barbara, and his
brother James. A visitation for Michael will be held on Thursday April
10, 2008 7-9PM and Friday April 11, 2008 4-7PM and 7-9PM at the Iroquois
School Auditorium in Lawrence Park. A funeral mass for Michael will be
held on Saturday April 12, 2008 10AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church in
Harborcreek followed by internment at St. Gregory Cemetery in North East.
