Fallen Brothers» Louis Rickards
Louis was a lifelong member of the Lewes VFD, joining the department when he was 16. He retired as a member of the
Delaware State Police after 25 years of service. He had been working for the Maritime Exchange for Delaware Bay and River.
Louis had served as president of the department for the last 13 years. He had served as Fire Chief for 7 years, secretary for
10 years, and treasurer for three years. Louis was very involved with the Delaware Volunteer Fireman's Association. He was
a primary author of the book recently published on the 100th year anniversary of the department.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 8, 2002, 4-8PM at the Lewes Fire Department, Station One, 347 Savannah Road,
Lewes, Delaware. Funeral Services wil be held Saturday, February 9, 2002, 10AM at the Lewes Fire Department
Station One. Internment will immediately follow at The Bethel United Methodist Cemetery also located on Savannah Rd.
Louis is survived by his wife, Naomi, two grown children and two grandchildren. The family requests that in lieu of flowers
donations be made to the Lewes Fire Department in memory of Louis Rickards. Donations can be sent to:
