Our condolences to the McRae family and the District of Columbia
Fire Department. FireFighter James McRae, 34, a 15 year veteran
of the DCFD, died Saturday July 7, 2007. James had responded to
several alarms during his shift and awoke around 0300 hours not
feeling well with shortness of breath. A paramedic in the firehouse
began treating him for symptoms of a heart attack. He was transported
to Sibley Hospital and then airlifted to Washington Hospital Center
for specialized treatment where he passed away shortly after.
Our brother James leaves behind a 9 year old daughter. A viewing
for James will be held on Saturday July 14, 2007 9AM-11AM at the
Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. A funeral service
for James will be held immediately following the viewing. Internment
will follow the service at the Fire Fighter's Memorial at Fort
Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, Maryland.
