Our condolences to the Lockhart family and the Dayton District
Volunteer Fire Department of Pennsylvania. FireFighter Jack
Lockhart, 69, a 49 year veteran of the Dayton District Volunteer
Fire Department, died Sunday February 17, 2008. Jack was preparing
to respond to a furnace explosion when he did not feel well. He
asked his son Barry, who is Chief of the Department, to drive to
the call and decided to stay behind and monitor the radio at the
fire station during the call. He was found collapsed from an
apparent heart attack in the radio room and tranported to Armstrong
County Memorial Hospital where he died shortly after.
Our brother Jack leaves behind his two sons Michael and Barry,
and his three daughters Jackie, Carol and Cathy. A visitation
for Jack will be held on Tuesday February 19, 2008 2-4PM and
7-9PM and also on Wednesday February 20, 2008 2-4PM and 7-9PM
at Bauer-Bly Funeral Home in Dayton. A funeral for Jack will be
held on Friday February 22, 2008 11AM at Dayton United Methodist
Church followed by internment in Smicksburg Lutheran Cemetery in
