Our condolences to the Jones family and the Raleigh Fire Department
of North Carolina. Lieutenant Herman Jones, 58, a 27 year veteran of
the Raleigh Fire Department, died Tuesday January 22, 2008. Herman was
exercising behind the fire station on Friday January 18, 2008 when an
EMS call came in. While responding he noted to his supervisor that he
thought he had pulled his hamstring but did not complain again until
later that night. He was found sweating and complaining of indigestion
and pain in his left leg. No pulse could be found in his left foot and
he was transported to Wake Medical Center. Examination showed he was
suffering from a torn aorta. He was later transferred to UNC Hospital
in Chapel Hill where he passed away from his injury on Tuesday January
22, 2008.
Our brother Herman leaves behind his mother Louise Jones. A visitation
will be held for Herman on Saturday January 26, 2008 1PM at Haywood
Funeral Home in Raleigh. A funeral service for Herman will be held on
Saturday January 26, 2008 2PM at Juniper Level Baptist Church in
Raleigh followed by an interment in the church cemetery.
