Our condolences to the Scott family and the Menands Fire Department
of New York. Fire Police Captain Edgar Scott, 75, a volunteer for
36 years, died Tuesday April 3, 2007. Edgar was driving a fire
police van while responding to a motorcycle accident on I-787 with
two other fire police officers when they collided with a propane
truck while making a u-turn to access the other side of the highway.
Edgar was ejected and died at the scene. The two other fire police
officers were injured in the crash.
Edgar was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy. He
was a life member of Menands Fire Company One, joining in 1971. He has
served as the department's Fire Police Captain for over 10 years. He
was also a founding member of the former Riverside Ambulance Squad in
Menands.
Our brother Edgar leaves behind his wife Beverly, and his two sons
Craig and Douglas. Family services are going to be held privately.
A public memorial service for Edgar will be held on Friday April
13, 2007 7PM at the Albany Marriott in Colonie. The family has
