Our condolences to the Burchett family and the Paintsville
Fire-Rescue-EMS Department of Kentucky. Assistant Fire Chief/EMS
Director Christa Burchett, a veteran of the Paintsville Fire-Rescue-EMS
Department, died Tuesday January 22, 2008. Christa had responded to
an MVA involving an injured pregnant woman on US 460. She was
evaluating and assisting the injured woman back to the ambulance when
a coal truck crested the the hill and was unable to stop in icy
conditions, hitting a police cruiser before striking Christa and her
patient Erica Brown. Erica Brown was pronounced at the scene. Christa
was transported to Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center where she
died shortly after.
Our sister Christa leaves behind her parents Redford and Melinda
Lemaster, her daughter Olivia Dawn, a very special friend Emily Jones
and her daughter Haley Bowen. A funeral service for Christa will be held
on Saturday January 27, 2008 1PM at Louisa Middle School, followed by a
visitation from 4-10PM at the school. A memorial fund has been established
