Our condolences to the Tiegs family and the Amherst Fire District
of Wisconsin. FireFighter Jeffrey Tiegs, 47, an 11 year veteran of
the Amherst Fire District died Monday November 24, 2003. Jeffrey
collapsed and died from an apparent heart attack as he dismounted
the fire engine he had driven to the scene of a minor traffic
accident at U.S. 10 and State 161. Jeffrey was transported to St.
Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point and was pronounced dead.

11/24/03 Fallen Brother - Clute, TX
Our condolences to the Duhon family and the Clute Fire Department
of Texas. Roy Duhon, 49, a 20 year veteran of the Clute Fire
Department died Sunday October 26, 2003. Roy died of an apparent
heart attack in the evening.

11/22/03 Line of Duty Death - Clark County, WA
Our condolences to the Tiffany family and the Clark County Fire
District #12 of Ridgefield, Washington. Paramedic and FireFighter
Richard Tiffany, 35, a 6 month firefighter but 12 year veteran
paramedic with Clark County, died Monday November 17, 2003.
Richard was exercising with another firefighter at the fire station
when he stepped off the treadmill and collapsed of an apparent
heart attack. Firefighters were unable to resuscitate him and he
was pronounced dead at the station.

Tom Finnegan, a firefighter with the Jefferson Township Fire Co# 2,
the NJ State Forest Fire Service, and a member of the NJ Metro Fire

11/20/03 Line of Duty Death - Kansas City, KS
Our condolences to the Boyert family and the Kansas City Kansas Fire Department. Captain Gary Boyert, 53, a 29 year veteran of the Kansas City Kansas Fire Department died Monday November 17, 2003. Gary was responding as a safety officer to a general alarm on a wet and foggy night in a department Ford Crown Victoria when his vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree landing upside down next to a utility pole. Gary was extricated by his brothers and was transported to a local hospital but died shortly after from his injuries.

11/18/03 Line of Duty Death - Hartford, CT
Our condolences to the Kureczka family and the Hartford
Fire Department of Connecticut. Lieutenant Edmond
Kureczka, 46, a 23 year veteran of the Hartford Fire
Department died Sunday November 16, 2003. Edmond
died of an apparent heart attack.

11/17/03 Line of Duty Death - Painted Post, NY
Our condolences to the Yonkin family and the Forest
View-Gang Mills Fire Department of Painted Post, New
York. Fire Chief Lawrence Yonkin, 56, a 30 year veteran
of the Forest View-Gang Mills Fire Department died
Sunday November 15, 2003. Lawrence died of an apparent
heart attack after returning home from a civilian casualty
structure fire in the Woodland Park section of Erwin. He
was transported to Corning Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

11/14/03 Line of Duty Death - Weaver, AL
Our condolences to the Brimer family and the Weaver Fire
Department of Alabama. FireFighter Matthew Brimer, 18, a 7
month veteran of the Weaver Fire Department died Saturday
November 8, 2003. Matthew was responding to a routine fire
call in his sister's 1995 Toyota Camry when he lost control of
the vehicle on Halls Chapel Road in Calhoun County and slid
off the road into a tree. The fire call turned out to be nothing,
but firefighter's responded to the wreck to extricate his body.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.

11/11/03 Line of Duty Death - Cambridge, MA
Our condolences to the Bennett family and the Cambridge Fire
Department of Massachusetts. Lieutenant Barry Bennett, 49,
an 18 year veteran of the Cambridge Fire Department died Sunday November 2, 2003. Barry was inadvertently punctured by a
needle at a medical emergency in 1987 while working as a
firefighter on the Rescue Company. He was diagnosed with
Hepatitus-C and began treatment and observation. He was
promoted in 1998 to Lieutenant and was able to continue working until 2003. He received a liver transplant in May of
2003 but succumbed to his illness in November.

11/7/03 Line of Duty Death - Russell, PA
Our condolences to the Michael family and the Russell Fire Company of Pennsylvania. President Darrell Michael, 60, a 42 year member of the Russell Fire Company died Monday November 3, 2003. Darrell was at the station on standby preparing for a fundraiser on Friday October 24, 2003. He was discovered at the bottom of a ladder with head injuries. He was rushed to a local hospital. Darrell was removed from life support 10 days later.

11/1/03 Line of Duty Death - Country Lakes, NJ
Our condolences to the Prouty family and the Country Lakes Fire
Company of New Jersey. Fire Chief Roy Prouty, 39, a 9 year veteran
of the Country Lakes Fire Company died Thursday October 30,
2003. Roy was helping load an mva victim onto a helicopter when
he collapsed from an apparent heart attack. He was transported to
Virtua-Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly where he later died.
