2/28/03 Line of Duty Death - Klamath Falls, OR
Our condolences to the Brown family and the Kingsley Field Fire Department of Klamath
Falls, Oregon. Captain Larry Brown, 53, a 23 year veteran of the Kingsley Field Fire
Department died Thursday February 20, 2003. Larry suffered a heart attack while on
duty at the fire station. His brothers found him and alerted the Klamath County Fire
District for advanced life support. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

2/27/03 Attention WFD Members
It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Efrain Velez, father
of Waterbury FireFighter Jose Velez, assigned to Engine 11 on the A Shift.
A wake was held for Efrain on Monday February 24, 2003 at Woodtick
Memorial in Wolcott and a funeral was held on Tuesday February 25, 2003
at St. Cecilia's Church in Waterbury.
2/25/03 Photo Gallery Update
I attended the Connecticut Firefighters Pipes and Drums 10 Year Anniversary
celebration on Saturday night. Congratulations on 10 years guys. Dad I couldn't
be prouder. I took some photos at the party and I have put them in a photo gallery.

2/22/03 Photo Gallery Update
I finally went through my armpatch submissions and came up with 68 new
armpatches for the Armpatch Photo Gallery, including this one from the
Union Fire Company Eagles. There are now 1,543 armpatches in the

I also added a new helmet submission and a new helmet shield submission
to their respective photo galleries. There are 10 helmet photos in the

2/14/03 Attention WFD Members
It is with deep regret we announce the passing of retired Waterbury Firefighter
Francis Marco. Francis was an Army veteran of WWII and served as a member
of the Waterbury Fire Department from 1951-1976. A wake will be held for Francis
on Saturday February 14, 2003 5-8PM at Chase Parkway Memorial. A funeral will
be held for Francis on Sunday February 15, 2003 9:30AM at St. Lucy's Church
followed by a burial at Calvary Cemetery.
2/13/03 Line of Duty Death - Dallas, TX
Our condolences to the Clarke family and the Dallas Fire Department of Texas. FireFighter
Wayne Clarke, 46, a firefighter in training with the Dallas Fire Department died Wednesday
February 12, 2003. Wayne collapsed during a training exercise on the department's drill
tower. Instructors performed CPR and Wayne was transported to Baylor Hospital where
was pronounced dead.

Our condolences to the Carter family, the Pizzuto family, and the Stoeckert family.
Carol Carter, 60, mother of Waterbury Firefighter Fred Carter passed away this
weekend. Joseph Pizzuto Sr, 78, father of Waterbury Captain Joseph Pizutto,
passed away this weekend. Robert Stoeckert, 70, father of Waterbury Captain
Robert Stoeckert also passed away this weekend.

2/5/03 Fallen Brother - IAFF & USAF, TX
Our condolences to the Walker family and the Clarksville Fire Department of
Our condolences to the International Association of Firefighters and the United States Air Force. IAFF 16th District Vice President Nick Davila, 55, a veteran federal firefighter and union representative died Thursday January 30, 2003. Nick was killed in an off-duty traffic accident near San Antonio, Texas.

2/5/03 Line of Duty Death - Santa Barbara, CA
Our condolences to the Moseley family and the Santa Barbara County Fire
Department of California. FireFighter/Engineer Robert Moseley died on
Saturday February 1, 2003. Robert suffered a heart attack while on duty.

2/4/03 Line of Duty Death - Clarksville, IN
Our condolences to the Walker family and the Clarksville Fire Department of
Indiana. FireFighter George Walker, 62, a 31 year veteran of the Clarksville
Fire Department died Saturday February 1, 2003. George suffered a heart
attack while working at a Spicewood Drive structure fire on Sunday
December 15, 2002. He was treated at the scene and transported to
Kindred Hospital in Louisville where he passed away weeks later.
